Assignment 1
I was nervous about working in big groups and, most significantly, about giving a speech in front of so many people when I first started speech class. It was uncomfortable to think that I would have to stand in front of my students, many of whom seemed more experienced and self-assured. But I was aware that these assignments and responsibilities would be vital to my academic experience and, ultimately, to my success in the workplace. Our goal, divided into six-person groups, was to carefully copy every chapter from our public speaking textbook. chapters from our public speaking textbook When I first started my speech class, I was anxious about working in large groups and, most importantly, about giving a speech in front of so many people. The idea of having to appear in front of my classmates , many of whom seemed more seasoned and confident, was unsettling. However, I knew that these tasks and assignments would be crucial to my academic experience and, eventually, to my professional success. Working in six-person teams, our objective was to meticulously replicate the chapter. Together, we went over every stage of the process, from planning and brainstorming to writing and editing to, at the end, being ready to present our work. I felt the first group was really good. The professor had cautioned us against reading the slides during the presentation, so that was the one thing I really didn't understand about their work. Some of their presentations had a lot of text on them. I thought their slide was the best-looking in the class and it looked fantastic. All in all, though, they seemed like a disciplined group of people who understood their subject and had completed their own assignments. I found Group #3's discussion of speech delivery techniques to be really fascinating, and they did a great job presenting it. They appeared to have the same slide-related issue as group #1, though.Group #4 was the final and fourth group to present. Each group member did a fantastic job presenting their themes and showcasing their breadth of knowledge, and they had a really instructive and well-presented slide. I think my classmates and I could improve in a few areas, such as organizing our individual work a little better, scheduling a Zoom meeting after class to make sure everyone is comfortable with their part of the project, and practicing our presentations in a Zoom meeting before our next assignment. Personally, I felt quite nervous this time around and tried to use my hands, therefore I think I could be more forthright during presentations. This event taught me the importance of teamwork and communication.recognized immediately that, even with the best of intentions, many of the scheduled meetings were not kept, and that, eventually, our schedules would not permit us to attend all of them. After all, consider how challenging it must be for them to juggle work, school, and personal responsibilities.communicate, share ideas, and focus on the current duties.understood right away that we would eventually reach a point where our schedules would not allow us to attend all of the scheduled meetings; however, despite our best efforts, the majority of them were not kept to. One can imagine that they are all juggling work, personal obligations, and the general chaos of college life.discuss, share ideas, and focus on the current duties.discuss, share ideas, and focus on the current duties. Even if there were occasionally misunderstandings and a poor response time, it was still preferable to nothing. It demonstrated to me that even the most basic tools can yield the greatest results when utilized properly. This experience taught me that college is not what the media makes it out to be. An romanticized picture of college life, filled with tons of spare time, carefree studying, and social gatherings, is commonly presented by social media. Actually, it feels like college is a lot more like high school, but with more freedom and responsibility.Everything in college is planned, including deadlines, assignments, and syllabuses, in contrast to high
Very good reflection. What differences would you like to see in college? Let's talk.
